Marquardt not heading to Bellator as he fights off criticism from B.J. Penn

Apparently the "Nate Marquardt's a nice guy" stuff is long gone. The former UFC middleweight contender, who had run ins with both Pennsylvania and New Jersey over his testosterone replacement therapy use, is getting battered from all sides. Bellator's Hector Lombard called him a cheater earlier this week and now B.J. Penn has jumped on board the "Slam Nate Express."

@BJPenndontcom and @NathanMarquardt engaged in a little Twitter throw down yesterday.

MMA fans on Twitter are choosing sides. A newly combative Marquardt is getting blasted by some followers and spoke with MMAjunkie to defend himself.

"Some of the fighters that think they're so cool and tough by kicking a guy when he's down ? as far as my career, this has been one of the worst times of my life, and these guys are calling me a cheater and talking crap ? I've taken note as to who those guys are, and I'm going to come for them. Eventually, I'll get them. I don't care if it's in a superfight or if they want to come down to my gym. I'll beat them up for free," Marquardt said.

"I think you know who these guys are ? Ben Askren, B.J. Penn, Paul Daley, Hector Lombard, cowards talking crap about a guy when he's in such a situation. They're trying to take advantage of the situation. They're bullies. Those are the guys I want to beat up."

Not everyone is slamming Marquardt. Others on Twitter have started a #bringnateback hash tag. They're including UFC president Dana White on many of those tweets.

Marquardt and his management team must be banking on White eventually softening his stance. Bellator made an offer to Marquardt, but the two sides couldn't come to terms. It sounds like Marquardt wanted an immediate title shot against Lombard, but Bellator wouldn't back off it's standard tournament format. All new fighters are usually put into a tournament and have to earn a title shot against the reigning champ.

"The reality is that it's not often that a top-10 guy is available... especially when he's coming off a win. Nate's situation was pretty unique. It's an anomaly for a guy like that to become available, so we had discussions. But it just became pretty clear it wasn't the right fit," Rebney told MMAjunkie.

Who's making the mistake in that case? Wouldn't it benefit Bellator to steal away a high profile fighter? Or is it Marquardt, for not taking the only major opportunity that may come his way?

SharePoint 2010 SP1: What it does -- and does not do

SharePoint 2010 has been stable and feature-rich from the get-go, but nonetheless, Microsoft recently released Service Pack 1 for it. I've heard few complaints regarding its performance and a great deal of praise regarding the leaps taken beyond its predecessor. However, a common gripe relates to the content database size limitations even if you are using Remote Blob Storage (RBS).

So does SharePoint 2010 SP1 address the database size issue, and what else does it bring to the table to make SharePoint 2010 even better?

Look out! Condit?s flying knee crushes Kim in UFC 132 PPV opener

LAS VEGAS - Carlos Condit isn't boisterous enough to lobby for a title shot so he let his work in the Octagon send a sonic boom the way of UFC management.

A composed Condit waited for Dong Hyun Kim to drop his guard for a split second and pounced. He vaulted through the air with a flying knee that floored Kim and followed it up with seven nasty shots on the ground. He left Kim with the dreaded stink eye as referee Steve Mazzagatti jumped in to stop things at the 2:58 mark of the first round in the pay-per-view opener of UFC 132.

"I had an excellent game plan and I trusted in it. Everytime I go out there, I just fight to the best of my ability and tonight I couldn't be more pleased with how it worked out," said Condit.

Condit may finally be on the verge of getting his crack at Georges St-Pierre, the UFC'S dominant welterweight champion. Condit's taken a laid back approach in asking for the fight while more chatty fighters like Dan Hardy have gottentheir shots at GSP. Jake Shields, a champion from outside the organization, also got a relatively quick shot, and next up for GSP is Strikeforce welterweightNick Diaz. Meanwhile, Condit, the former WEC 170-pound champion, had to work his way up the ladder like he was a true UFC newcomer.

Condit's now 4-1 with the promotion. He was a perfect 5-0 with the Zuffa-owned WEC and 27-5 overall.

Diaz will challenge St. Pierre at UFC 137 in October. If GSP retains the title, Condit seems like the obvious choice. That should be interesting since both St. Pierre and Condit work with Albuquerque-based trainer Greg Jackson.

Kim (14-1, 5-1 UFC) was actually a slight favorite entering fight. The Korean judo master suffered his first loss with the promotion.

"My game plan was to look for the take down and also to land some overhand punches. I tucked my chin down and got caught with a knee. I'm really disappointed," said Kim.

2011 Sachsenring MotoGP Thursday Roundup -

Another MotoGP event, another weekend full of speculation about the weather. The rain clouds that seem to follow the MotoGP circus around since it landed in Europe are hanging over Germany, though opinion among both local experts and the weather professionals is divided as to whether it will actually rain or not. The best guess at the moment is that Friday and Saturday should be dry - Saturday expected to be especially good weather - while several hours of rain are expected on race day. Or not, depending on who you believe.

Regardless of the weather, we could see a decent race on Sunday: the Honda riders are as buoyant as you would expect at a track where Dani Pedrosa has dominated for the past couple of years, while Jorge Lorenzo is convinced that going back to the 2010 chassis - or parts of it - and last year's settings have given him the comfortable feeling that he needs to be competitive. Casey Stoner is as confident as you might expect a championship leader to be - though when asked directly whether he expected to win on Sunday, he would say only that he was "more than capable of running at the front." With a stable front end and the drive to help keep the bike turning around the Sachenring's tight and technical layout, Stoner looks like being the hot favorite here, especially as Pedrosa is still recovering from the aftermath of his crash at Le Mans.

Cruz slips by Faber and retains title at UFC 132, but a third fight is needed

LAS VEGAS - Book it now. Five more rounds might be on the way between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber. Cruz and Faber traded punches, knees, kicks, takedowns and awesome scrambles and produced a very tough tilt to score. After 25 minutes of action, the judges gave a unanimous decision, 50-45, 49-46 and 48-47 to Cruz, the UFC bantamweight champion, in the main event of UFC 132 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

This was a revenge fight for the champion Cruz (18-1, 1-0 UFC). As a neophite, he lost in 2007 to Faber at WEC 26. Faber went onto a high level of stardom as the sport's best lighter weight fighter while Cruz worked in the background to improve his game and add incredible movement to his arsenal. The 5-foot-9 San Diegan also dropped down a weight class to 135 pounds. In the final days of the WEC, Cruz got on a hot streak and won the bantamweight title. When the UFC folded the 145 and 135 pound weight classes into the bigger promotion, Cruz was handed the title, but there was still unfinished business to legitimize the title. He had to beat Faber.

"I really hyped myself up for this fight. I wanted this fight for four years. I've been hungry for this fight, sweating for this fight, bleeding for this fight," Cruz said during the postfight press conference. "I got it. I won it. I'm happy."

The judges were slightly split on the fight with Sal D'Amato scoring it 5-0 for Cruz while Glenn Trowbridge had it 3-2.

"At the end of the fight, I said 'I'm glad I don't have to score that fight.' It was a very good fight back and forth and we'll see what happens," White responded when asked about a third fight some time down the road. "Third fights are always fun especially when they're as good as that one was. It was a great fight, very technical fight. It was MMA at its finest."

Faber (25-5, 1-1 UFC) and his corner looked devastated and sort of shocked by the decision. After getting blasted by Faber shots, Cruz hit the deck on three occasions, but his ability to bounce up quickly, may have nullified the flash knockdowns.

"You never really know how a fight is going to go until you get in there. I thought I landed the heavier punches. It just wasn't enough output on my side. I didn't finish him. I felt like it could've gone either way. I felt like I won the fight," said a gracious Faber.

Cruz admitted that he'd been blasted a few times by Faber.

"That dude hits hard. His hand are very fast," Cruz said. "They were prepared. His hands were good."

According to Compustrike, Cruz outlanded Faber 99-74, but the champ was knocked down three times. He scored with the judges by converting on 6-of-11 takedowns. Although it should be pointed that not once did Cruz ever really settle Faber down on the ground.

"We're both reaction fighters and was trying not to react too much to his movement, just kind of stalk him and take his best shot and land the heavier shots. I know I landed some heavy shots in there and I know i rocked him a couple of times. Apparently it wasn't enough," Faber said during the postfight press conference. "The main thing must've have been the amount of punches. That's the only thing I can think of."

Faber called Cruz cocky in the past, gave the young champ his due.

"Congrats to Dominick. I'm not an easy guy to beat. Joseph Benavidez is not an easy guy to beat," Faber said. "So we've got a good champ."
